Top 10 Adventures of 2008

1. Disneyland - by far this is the kids favorite place, and I think it's Jeff's favorite place too. After all, it is the happiest place on earth. Jeff would attest to that as well. We were winners of the "Year of a million dreams" and they gave us free passes to California Adventure and fast passes to both parks. We spent a fun filled day there and there was never a dull moment as we hopped from one ride to another. One memorable moment with Haley was getting completely soaked on Splash Mountain.

2. Lake Tahoe - we spent days with Jeff's family in a cabin on the lake. We enjoyed playing in the lake, hanging out in the spa, playing pool, cousins playing with each other, playing card games and just spending time with family.

3. Family Reunion and Camping at Lopez Lake with Kristen's family. We roughed it and fought off bees during meal time. We enjoyed campfires, smores, Jeff wake-skated for the first time tubing on the lake - Haley went tubing with Grandma Haselhuhn and said, "You're a cool grandma!"

4. The Children's Museum - With a membership this year we frequented it often. The kids enjoy exploring and creating there. They never get tired of it, no matter how often we go. Their favorite was carpet skating, playing in the water and performing on the stage

5. Spring Break in California - Jeff was a super-dad and took the kids to Sacramento for spring break while I continued to attend school. They swam, went hot-tubbing, went to Fairy Tale Town and had sleep-overs with cousins-which is always a hit.

6. Jetty Island Adventures - we went to Jetty Island twice this year. The kids always enjoy the short ferry ride to the island where they can play in 'real' sand. It is the closest thing to sand that we have in the Puget Sound. They dug in the sand with their friends for hours of fun in the sun.

7. Kayaking in Morro Bay, CA - this was my first kayaking experience and the kids too. We thoroughly enjoyed it with my sister Amy and her husband Cory. All the kids had a turn to kayak. Haley went with her aunt and uncle to land and searched for the "perfect" seashell. She came back with a bucket full. They are now in her room with lots of memories from that day.

8. Paragliding - Jeff went paragliding with his brother-in-law, Todd. Jeff thought they were going to crash as they barely got off the ground before crashing into thick bushes. It was an amazing experience as he flew over farmland near Sacramento.

9. The Nutcracker - this was the only school "field trip" taken this year. I went with Sydney and the entire first grade class and accompanied her on her first experience to The Nutcracker. We had a great time. I can't wait to take both girls next year.

10. The Evergreen State Fair - our family went to the Evergreen State fair for the first and most likely last time. Luckily there are state fairs in every state, but this one was a lot of fun. We enjoyed a family-fun-filled day together.
