On Sydney's birthday she got a butterfly kit. We sent away for the caterpillars and received them shortly. We watched the 5 caterpillars eat their food and get huge! In about 7 days they made their crysalides and we waited patiently for 5 days. They finally emerged out of their crysalides and we watched the Painted Lady butterflies for a few days. The day came when we were to let them go into the outdoors. Sydney was so excited to share this special day with her cousins. Here are pictures of the freeing ceremony.

Way too easy. That would be 'Cars' when Stanley the statue takes flight when Lightning McQueen tries to out run the sheriff. Okay, so what is my prize?
i did this same thing with my nanny kids! it was so fun for them to watch the caterpillars grow then to release the butterflies!
