Driving along the coast

After spending time with the elephant seals, we drove along the coast and found a state park. We really stopped there to go to the bathroom, but then decided to walk along the pier out to the water in the San Simeon Bay. On the pier, there was a sign that gave a bit of history. The pier was built in the 1930's when William Randolph Hearst was building his castle, so he can import all of his beautiful treasures from overseas. If looking on the pier toward the hillside, you can see the beautiful castle.

The Men's Correctional Facility was putting their men to work to cut down trees. Glad to see they are still doing hard labor.
