Photos of our Eastern Caribbean Cruise

Well, we made it back from our cruise, both tan and relaxed. We had a great time and enjoyed just about every minute of it. Read below to find out what we did.

Day 1- Sunday - Miami, Fl and At Sea

We got settled into our room and almost immediately hit the buffet. We toured the boat to get familiar. Somehow, I was tricked into watching a football game in the pub. I gladly volunteered to get food while Jeff watched the game. That evening we went to a show featuring singing and dancing, then a comedic juggler. It was surprisingly funny and entertaining.

Day 2 - Monday - At Sea

We slept in (because we could!), and eventually made it out to the pool. We got there at 11am and it was hard to find two chairs under the warm sun. We managed to find a spot and enjoyed the warmth and the sun. We were entertained by watching the Mr. Sexy Legs competition. Luckily Jeff avoided any part of that event. Tonight was the night to dress up. We got wind that one of the restaurants was serving Lobster tail. We had an early dinner featuring Lobster, then we went back again at 9:30 and had Lobster again. It was delicious and so worth it. We went to a singing and dancing show that night.

Day 3 - Tuesday - Dominican Republic, but really at sea

Unfortunatly after the show, Tropical Storm Olga came rapidly towards Samana, Dominican Republic and our ship had to detour. We didn't sleep well that night because of how rocky the boat was. Because we were unable to port in Samana, we slept in until 2pm. haha. We were very disappointed, but after we came back we realized how bad the storm was. It killed 17 people on D.R. We were grateful the captain kept us safe and out of harms way. So, after we woke up at 2pm, we got ready. We ate dinner, then went to a magic show. We were thoroughly entertained. After, we went to the movie theater and watched Pirates 3.

Day 4 - Wednesday - Tortola, British Virgin Island

We finally were able to get off the ship today. I went out to the deck to watch the ship arrive in the port. What a beautiful island. I didn't realize how hilly the island was, but it was beautiful. We immediately rented a car and toured the island. We ended up on the other side of the island at Cane Garden Bay. It is such a beautiful beach, we were in paradise. It is such a popular beach that it was lined with rows of beach chairs. We found a spot next to an umbrella. Lucky for us, because the rain came and went very quickly a few times. When it came, we rolled it up, and when the sun came back out we rolled the umbrella back down. We had a local cut open a coconut and we drank the juice. If you see the picture in the slideshow, the man is holding the rum above my head. In the caribbean, it's all about the rum...thanks to the pirates! After much sun, we went to another beach, which was very secluded. There were only 6 of us on the beach...including us. After spending some time there, we realized there were little bugs that were eating us (mostly Jeff) alive. When we got back on the boat he had bug bites all over his legs, and they itched like crazy. We had to buy hydrocortizone cream to relieve the itch. Unfortunately, we didn't take a picture of his legs. He definitely wouldn't have won the Mr. Sexy Legs competition after all those bites!!! We got back late that night and had delicious Tex-Mex cuisine. Oh, when we got back to our cabin we were informed that a main water pipe burst in our hallway that flooded 14 rooms, one of which was ours. It was a minor inconvience, because after we showered we left for the evening. Upon returning, our room had brand-new carpet and they credited our account $200! Even though it was a minor inconvience, it was so worth it.

Day 5 - Thursday - St. Thomas, US Virgin Island

This by far was our most favorite stop. Not only was it beautifu, and cleaner than Tortola, but there was so much history to the island that we couldn't resist. We opted to walk today. We walked about 2 miles from where we ported at Havensight to the capital, Charlotte Amalie. The capital has been around since the 1600's. After walking around a bit, we walked up the hill to the Governors Mansion, built in the 1800's. We got a mini-tour. Then we walked up the "famous" 99 steps to Blackbeard's Castle. It wasn't much of a castle, more like a look-out-tower. It was interesting to see the history of Blackbeard and some of the other famous pirates. After our tour, we took a taxi to Megans Bay. Did you know that Megans Bay is one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world? It really was beautiful. We were so impressed with the beautiful water and sand. Jeff and I swam far, and we were still able to see the ocean floor. It was spectacular! We went back to town and did some souviner shopping. If you are ever in the market for jewlery, St. Thomas is known as the jewlery capital of the world. We got back on board and got ready for the evening. We had great food and watched The Bourne Ultimatum (which was our first time), and then we went to our first Caribbean Deck Party. It was entertaining.

Day 6 - Friday - At Sea

I spent a good part of the morning basking in the sun by the pool, while Jeff went to an important debarkation presentation. After working so hard on my tan, Jeff and I went to a memory seminar. It is amazing how much we could remember if we apply the information in the right way. I still remember all of the presentation. After that, we indulged in the Chocoholic Buffet. Oh yeah! It was a dream come true! haha. I never thought that I could eat too much chocolate...but it can be done. I was just about sick to my stomach...but it was so worth it. We went to an Asian restaurant and enjoyed food from the Far East.


Day 7 - Saturday - Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas

Great Stirrup Cay is a privately owned by Norwegian Cruise Line. The only people on the island were the ones from our cruise. Jeff and I arrived to the Bahamas and quickly went on an adventure. We took a mile hike to an old lighthouse. We then made our way to the other side of the island (yes, it was very small). We took a small trail off the main road and found a private beach. We managed to avoid the mass crowds. There were only 4 other people on the beach with us. We soon realized that it was a great snorkel spot. Because we left our snorkel gear and towels on the other side of the island, we went back for it. After two miles of walking we were back to the private beach. We got geared up and and made our way out in the water. We went out a ways, snorkeling around a cove and a small island. It was great to see all the fish and marine life. Fortunately for us we just missed 2 sting-rays that the other 4 people on the beach found while snorkeling. We really had a great time exploring the water together. We made our way back to the boat and enjoyed the evening with a great farewell show and an amazing steak dinner. Today was a great way to end the last day of our Eastern Caribbean cruise.


Sunday - Miami, Fl.

We packed everything up and ate a big breakfast (because it was already paid for) and made our way off the ship. Aside from Tropical Storm Olga and our room flooding, it was an amazing trip. It was so sad to leave the beautiful weather and come home to cold and rainy weather. Although sad to leave, we were so happy to see our three kids again. We missed them and they really missed us. My mom is a saint for watching the kids for the 8 days we were gone. We couldn't have had a better time celebrating our 10-year anniversary.
