On Memorial Day, we had sushi for lunch with my parents before they left to go back home. The kids tried a few different pieces of sushi and for the most part they liked it, but decided they wanted McDonald's instead. After going to our second lunch stop, we took the kids to the local fish hatchery to feed the millions of fish. There are Rainbow Trout, Steel head They love feeding them and watching them flip in and out of the water. It is kind of funny because when we walk along the aisles, the fish follow along us knowing they might get food. It was very interesting learning about spawning and the life cycle of the fish. It was amazing to learn that the Steel head fish return after 3 years of being released in the river system, swimming out to the Pacific Ocean and returning back to the hatchery. They cut open the female fish and take out all the eggs and fertilize it. It is an interesting process and very educational for me. The kids had pretty much no interest in that, they just wanted to feed the fish, which I don't blame them because it is so much fun.
Cousin Carter met us there to help with the feeding.
After the fish hatchery, we went to Jeff's parents house for a family BBQ.
